Local elections for parish and town councils in County Durham are scheduled for Thurs 1 May 2025. Councils should prepare themselves in advance as once the election timetable is ticking there are tight deadlines for key tasks and the processes to follow are strict.
This training is suitable for clerks and interested councillors. The first hour will concentrate on the tasks prior to the election including key dates, completion of nomination forms by candidates, qualifications for standing as a candidate and voting and understanding purdah. The last half hour will focus on what councils should prepare for, in welcoming and inducting a new cohort of councillors and council.
Our presenters will be:
Lesley Swinbank, currently clerk to a small parish council but with over 30+ years of experience as a large town council clerk in County Durham
