Pelton Parish Council awarded Gold Status by National Association of Local Councils

28th April 2026

On Wednesday 22 April 2026, Pelton Parish Council was proudly awarded the prestigious Gold Award, recognising exceptional standards of governance, strong community leadership and a clear commitment to continuous improvement.

Our CDALC Chair, Cllr David Bell, alongside Executive Officer Audrey Christie, were delighted to formally present the Award to the Council at the opening of its meeting, marking a significant milestone in Pelton’s ongoing journey of excellence.

This outstanding achievement has been secured through the Local Council Award Scheme, the National Association of Local Councils’ peer‑assessed programme that celebrates councils operating at the very forefront of the parish and town council sector. With only 52 councils nationwide holding Gold status — and just two in our county — Pelton Parish Council stands among an elite ½% of councils nationally.

Warmest congratulations to Pelton Parish Council for its unwavering dedication to supporting and empowering its community. The Council’s work shines through its commitment to community safety initiatives; active and inclusive engagement through local events and fun days; strong partnerships with schools and a local youth project; stewardship of one of the most vibrant community centres in the county; dedication to the Armed Forces Covenant; and its proactive role in shaping local land use through the development of a Neighbourhood Plan.

A truly well‑deserved recognition for a council making a meaningful difference.
