Managing Meetings

£20 County Association Members/£40 non-members (invoice after the event)

The course is suitable for both clerks and other officers and councillors and will focus on the requirements and good practice around meetings to enable proper decision making.

The training will comprise:

  • Giving notice of meetings,
  • Preparing agendas and minutes
  • Writing reports,
  • Dealing with confidential items,
  • Public participation,
  • Recording votes and
  • Keeping compliant with your standing orders
  • Staying within data protection rules

Our presenter will be:

Lesley Swinbank, currently clerk to a small parish council in County Durham but with over 30+ years as a large town council clerk.

For CiLCA students, this course contains relevant Unit 2 content.

Please note that bookings and cancellations will close 48 hours before each event.  Cancellations should be emailed to cdalc@durham.gov.uk.  After this time all live bookings will be charged whether the person attends or not, but non attendees will be sent the presentation. Councils will be invoiced after each event.

Online training will be delivered using Zoom and the online weblink will be emailed to participants no later than 24 hours before the event.
