Finance and Budgets Training

£10 County Association members/£15 non-members (invoice after the event)

Your Council should be starting to plan for its 2024/25 budget.  This training is therefore timed so that you can be appraised of both the process for planning your budget but also understanding other aspects of financial management for your council.

The training will comprise:

  • Financing of local councils including the Localisation of Council Tax Support in County Durham
  • Governance of finances including the role of the Responsible Financial Officer and the Council as a whole and internal controls
  • Setting your budget/precept request and budget monitoring
  • Dealing with Reserves
  • Monitoring the Budget
  • Managing your Asset Register

This course is suitable for new and existing clerks and councillors.

Our presenter will be Steve Ragg, former Executive Officer CDALC.

Please use this booking form to reserve your place at Finance and Budgets Training.

Please note that bookings and cancellations will close 48 hours before each event.  Cancellations should be emailed to cdalc@durham.gov.uk.  After this time all live bookings will be charged whether the person attends or not, but non attendees will be sent the presentation. Councils will be invoiced after each event.

Online training will be delivered using Zoom and the online weblink will be emailed to participants no later than 24 hours before the event.
