10 hours per week, (Weds and Thurs)
Joint Council scale LC2, point 24 (£16.16p per hour/£31,099 per annum pro rata) rising to point 28 (£18.05p per hour/£34,723 per annum pro rata) through job familiarisation.
CDALC is an advisory body providing information, support and advocacy for the first tier of local government in County Durham and surrounding areas. Our Association has a membership of over one hundred local councils and parish meetings. We are one of over forty County Associations in England and we work closely with the National Association of Local Councils. Once in post, the Finance and Administration Officer will be part of a small team of two, with the Executive Officer who will be working Tues to Fri.
The successful candidate will have local government experience; particularly in the parish sector and have excellent written and oral communication skills. S/he will be familiar with up to date IT office skills including spreadsheets and managing finances and preferably have experience of producing newsletters/publications and website content editing.
The aim of the post is to provide financial and administrative support for the Association including its meetings and its training programme for councils but also to develop some of the Association’s office and IT processes.
The work can be varied and require flexibility and the post holder will be required to hold a current driving licence.
It is desirable that the successful candidate holds the Introduction to Local Council Administration (ILCA) or will obtain the qualification when in post. They can also be supported to attain the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA).
The successful candidate may be able demonstrate suitability for the role through transferable skills and experience; training and support will be provided.
The post is currently based in County Hall, Durham City although some home working can be accommodated.
