Course information
As a member or officer of a local council, effective communication and conflict resolution skills are crucial. This half day, in person, workshop aims to equip participants with effective approaches and strategies to handle challenging conversations and manage conflict within the council. By understanding the dynamics at play and adopting best practices, a harmonious and productive working environment can be harnessed.
The workshop content will include:
Communication Challenges
Causes of Ineffective Communication: Explore common reasons why communication breaks down in the workplace.
Current Communication Challenges: Understand the unique communication hurdles faced in our evolving work environment.
Difficult Conversations
Understanding the Challenge: Delve into why certain workplace conversations can be difficult initially.
Preparing for Difficult Conversations: Learn seven best practice steps to prepare for these crucial discussions.
Dealing with Conflict
Taking Control of Meetings and Managing Time: Discover methods to keep meetings focused on productive conversations.
Balanced Debates and Participation: Address the challenges of maintaining balanced discussions during council meetings.
Effective Conflict Management: Strategies for handling both hidden and visible conflict within the council.
Dealing with Problem Participants and Difficult Situations: Practical approaches to navigate challenging personalities.
The workshop learning outcomes are
By the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:

After this date/time all bookings will be charged the full course cost whether the participants attends or not.
