Chairing and Leadership skills training for Parish and Town Councillors

13th May 2025

Tues 8th July 10am to 3pm (including lunch and tea/coffee)

At the Oakleaf Sports Centre, Newton Aycliffe, DL5 6QZ

Course cost:         

£28 for councils with a budget of less than £5,000

£32 for councils with budget between £5,000 and £100,000

£35 for councils with a budget of over £100,000

Councils will be invoiced after the event.

 

An effective chair is a key component of any Council’s success. This training day will cover the roles and responsibilities of the chair, meetings (preparation and on the day), professional conduct, public and media and being a good employer. It will also deal with some of the challenges encountered with the role.

 

This training is suitable for existing council chairs who wish to update their skill set or for anyone aspiring to be a chair in future years.

OUR PRESENTER IS

John Robinson who has had a distinguished total of 44 years as a councillor at all levels of local government in County Durham including five stints as mayor of Sedgefield Town Council and numerous other chairing roles.

 

Please note

The last day to book or cancel a place is Tues 1st July 2025.  Cancellations should be emailed to cdalc@durham.gov.uk.

After 1st July all live bookings will be charged whether the person attends or not, but non-attendees will be sent the presentation.
