Our Structure

Executive Committee

The Association is run by an Executive Committee comprising councillors from member councils throughout the County and surrounding areas. The structure of the committee is as follows:

  • President (elected bi-annually at AGM)
  • Honorary Auditor (elected bi-annually at AGM)
  • Eight (8) Members from our larger councils (elected bi-annually at AGM) – where council has an electorate >6,000 or a budget >£250,000
  • Eight (8) Members from our smaller councils (elected bi-annually at AGM) – where council  has an electorate <6,000 and budget <£250000
  • Three (3) members from each of the principal authority areas outside the Durham County Council area ie City of Sunderland, Darlington and Gateshead (elected by area committees)

In the autumn each year we have an Annual General Meeting which is appraised of the annual accounts, annual report and deals with any elections and motions.
